#10 – Tespia – Requirements to Become a Tester

Link to Nexon’s ArticleGM Blogs: Angry Panda: This is a Test

And, thank you to Cujo00 (or, Cujo00x on BasilMarket) for creating this thread.

Tespia, Tespia, oh, Tespia.  I myself long to get a hold of your exclusive content.  But how?  Well, thanks to a GM Blog that just came out today, we get a hold of the four basic guidelines they used to pick Tespia testers:
As quoted directly from the website:

The question is, how do we select the people who get to participate in the Tespia tests?

The purpose of Tespia is to test. That means we choose our selection criteria based on the needs of the test, not the merit of the players.

Let’s take our last Tespia session. In that case we kept the criteria fairly loose because there was a broad selection of gameplay we were looking to test. We had four basic qualifications that players had to meet:

1. A candidate had to have registered at least six months before the date of the test.
2. A candidate had to have had at least three logins per week for the past 30 days.
3. A candidate had to have at least one level 30 or higher character.
4. A candidate had to have absolutely no ban or abuse history.
After that we tried to pull in people with a wide variety of playstyles for the Visitors test. It’s a mark of how great Maplers are as a community that setting those criteria netted us way, way more players than we could possibly invite. For this test, we were restricting the number of invitations to a specific number of players. This wasn’t an arbitrary number. Rather it was the amount we needed to get the data necessary for a successful test. Once we had our initial list, we sorted it based on the number of logins in the past 30 days and cut that list off when we hit that number. It was really that simple.

Well, there you have it folks.  Basically, you need to be active, you need to achieve a semi-low level 30, and you need to be a good player that doesn’t cheat.

#9 – Is it true?! Windia defeats Pink Bean!

WINDIA KILLS PINK BEAN!

(Picture from WhyteBar of Windia)

No, not Scania, not bera, but Windia all the way! It broke huge news on BasilMarket, here’s the thread.

Good job Windia!

As I myself am a Windian, I would not expect this.  I would expect Scania, infamous for its high level players, to legitimacy kill Pink Bean first, but no, Windia, Windia, accomplished this first.  It seems that many high-level players came together from many different guilds to achieve this feat.  The screenshot above is from BasilMarket, and there is also a video that proves that this happened.  Now, there is a huge debate going on in BasilMarket about this, but, here is the video.

I do not doubt that they are legit, so, great job Windia!

#8 – Alien-exterminator for Windia!

Hey, everyone!  I was just recently going around Henesys, when I found a user named CtrlFail.  He is a level 56 Aran, is selling his services to kill aliens.  He has gotten the Bing Suit and can kill the aliens!

You might find him around Henesys, but if I would use the “/find” command to find him.

I have some of his prices:

  • Time Temple – 1 million mesos
  • Dragon Cave – 800k mesos

He has given me permission to feature him on this blog.

Also, in other news…

This player to the right has also obtained the Bing Suit.  He is a level 64 Aran, and is part of the guild “BattleRoyale.”  I’m not sure if he is selling his services, but you might try to contact him if you need help.

Also, if you can use either Meso Explosion or Snipe, you can kill monsters without the suit.

#5 – “The Visitors” Event – Part II Rollback!

Part II Rollback to Part I!

*Gasp!*  Part II was canceled due to unknown technical difficulties.  Nexon took a lot of time during their unscheduled maintenance, going on for about five hours.  You can find the notice here:  Link to Nexon article.

Apparantly, most, or all of the servers crashed for unknown reasons.  It took Nexon about 15-30 minute to take action and close the game.  The game went offline, and many users scrambled to BasilMarket to talk about it.  Here is the thread that BasilMarket moderator/sherrif Eeveepony set up for this:  Link to BasilMarket thread.  It goes on for 90 pages, so watch out.

Now, to address the difficulties/bugs that came with this maintenance:

Apparantly, aliens have popped up all over the world.  These “monsters” are invincible, unless you have the “Bing Machine” equipped.

Which, ironically, was released as a part of Part II of this event.

This also means that we can’t obtain it because Part II, was, in a sense, rolled back.

These monsters don’t give any damage when you contact with them, but the problem is, they steal monster spawn slots and prevent other monsters from spawning. Which, for high-level people, can be a problem if they didn’t obtain the suit within the small time-frame that the servers crashed.

However, this BasilMarket thread informs people that some people have retained their suits, and are able to kill monsters.  Perhaps we could bribe/pay them to kill these monsters for us.

So, basically, for a few days, we are sitting ducks, most EXP gain in the world is stopped, and only a few people can restore monsters to their spawn slots.  This means, for a few days, we might see people buying people’s services to kill these monsters.  If you can kill these monsters, they give 150 EXP each, and they spawn more aliens if you attack them.

Update: According to this BasilMarket thread, you are able to kill aliens with these skills:

  • Meso Explosion
  • Snipe

Brilliant.  I hope that Nexon doesn’t get any ideas from this…

However, there is one good thing about this–indoor places, such as Ellinia’s Forest Dungeons, are unaffected by the aliens.  Now, I am not sure if this applies to the Dead Mines or other places, but it does work there.  Also, mini-dungeons are un-affected by this alien invasion.

#4 – “The Visitors” Event! Part II Post-poned!

Today was the start of “The Visitors” Event’s Part/Stage II!  It seems exciting, but there is some problems today…

The Server Crashed!

_______________________________________

____________________________________________________________________________

The servers of Windia, Broa, Bera, Scania, Mardia, Khaini and others crashed today.  Upon the start of Part II, the majority of the channels on the servers crashed and disconnected many Maplers.  BasilMarket is in a scramble, and there is so much activity that a thread was designated to this issue on this website.  This thread has grown very fast in just a matter of minutes.  The thread is currently growing very fast, and is at 48 pages.  Here is the link to the thread:  link to thread.

Nexon still hasn’t addressed this issue.

Update! Nexon did an unscheduled server maintenance to deal with this problem.  Link to article:  here.

The two pictures above are of Channel 7 and Channel 2.  I have been disconnected several times.  Channel 4 and 7 seemed to be the only ones that didn’t crash.  I connected long enough to get screenshots of both the filled Channel 7 and the empty Channel 2.

What is the cause of this sudden server crash? Was there a rollback?

I’ve been hearing some slight speculation that either hackers are invading MapleStory, the servers are being over-loaded, or that Stages 1 and 2 of this event are going at the same time.  Stage II was supposed to happen in 7 days.  But, the banner’s screen says “Part II” instead of  “Stage II.”

lailaimoon says:  “Maybe these problems are because Nexon is cramming too many contents into patches at a time? -o-“

kikutaiamu (or thetank2 on basil) says: “It’s probably because as of now, stage 1 and stage 2 are happening SIMULTANEOUSLY.

Perhaps, this is happened because of this person?

redlinexd says:  ” every since potential came out, everything is eff’d up, did u guys see the person who potentialed a red craven over 24 times? how on earth does that happen?”

kikutaiamu (or thetank2 on basil) said in response:  “He ENHANCED his craven 24 times, not POTENTIALLED. it happens because of a PACKET EDITOR hack.

Maybe there was, as of this comment on a thread from BasilMarket as proof:

LightAmazigh says: “Because before setting up a shop, I was equipped with a Red Whip, until I decided to remove it. But when I went on again, I saw myself wearing that Red Whip

Everyone seems to be in a scramble. Many people seem to be upset about the server crash.  Many are quoting the end of the world, 2012, and are blaming Nexon for this.  Nexon is currently working on this, and started a server maintenance.

But, they are still angry.  Is there going to be a second major rollback, like the Explorer’s Ring Event?

Numbfeet says: “OHH! BURN ON NEXON! THEY NEED SOME ICE TO COOL THAT FIRE, G! -rap beat-”

Yeah, many people are angry.  But, if you were doing the Part II quest, there might be a way to get your Crystanol back:

mintroparan says: “I got d/ced for the maintenance right when I was about to get my Bing Suit.
Heres a tip: Once you get the Crystanol Fragment, go out and get hit by a monster, then cc, you will get your fragment back.
You only get the fragment back, when you are in the room with the quest’s NPC in it.”

Thanks, mintroparan.

Your characters should not be stuck in the event map if it is canceled, delayed, or etc.

wjang59 (BS username) says:  “well pretty much that means alot of characters might be stuck untill next week [including me since i was at the event map]”

Golfek says in response: “Unless you haven’t noticed. If you log out in the Deep Sea, Mine, etc. you get sent back to Henesys when you log in.”

#3 – The Visitors Event! Part I!

“The Visitor’s” Event is here!

The Visitor’s event is a special event that was released in both Thailand MS and GMS, and features a changing, dynamic storyline based on alien invaders.  Yes, they are specifically invaders, and the storyline is based around the efforts of the OSSS (Omega Section Secret Service).

Basically, this is Doctor Bing’s self-proclaimed definition and mission of the OSSS:

“The OSSS is a special Intelligence Organization within Omega Sector.  Our mission is to collect intelligence about aliens and this is our base.”

Starting the event for the first time, you will see the image on the top of this page, and this other image after:

The visitors have set their ships above Henesys, and you are prompted to “answer a phone call” in Henesys.  After a short chain of quests and events, you are set up to escort a researcher to the base of the OSSS:

Oh, and did I mention you get an awesome MACHINE ROBOT TRANSFORMATION?

The controls are these:

Regular ATK Button: Single-enemy attack, hits for 2200.

Skill Button:  Multiple-enemy laser attack, hits for 1200.

Jump:  High-jump.

Simply, you get some awesome transformations!

Also, it seems that Part II might become a full-scale war with the aliens! Here is a quote from Doctor Bing:

“You know that scientists are always being kidnapped, right?  General Maestro views these kidnapping as an act of aggression and is preparing for a full-scale war.  Unfortunately, we can’t win against the aliens with our current technology…”

Check back here for more info as I continue to cover this event!

#2 – The Visitors – Preview

Link to Nexon’s Articlehttp://maplestory.nexon.net/News/Events.aspx?boardNo=200&contentNo=008mo&pageIndex=1

The Omega Sector Secret Service is activated!  As the visitors come to the Maple World, a new, dynamic, real-time event is launched!  Deemed, “The Visitors,” it is a special event which has been hinted to have original content, even though Thailand MS got it as well.  I have heard that we are getting much more content than TMS.

However, is Nexon trying to prove to the Maple community that they do work hard and they can make a good game?  Surprising, perhaps this is the warm-up to the highly-anticipated Big Bang?  Perhaps this will be interesting…

#1 – Tespia and the Invaders

Link to Nexon’s Articles:

The invaders are coming!  Apparently, some people had suspicions about a new wallpaper that had come out recently a few days ago.  What was it?  It couldn’t be Neo Tokyo because the backgrounds and characters in the wallpaper didn’t look like it.  Was it a Masteria expansion?  Yes, maybe!  The Krakian Jungle of Masteria was noted to be a very highly-advanced civilization, in the middle of a jungle.

Most people thought it was this… until recently.

It has been revealed by the article I linked to that this wallpaper shows pictures of not a new Masteria area, but new content for GMS.  There is even an exclusive party quest just for GMS, though the area has been released in ThailandMS, though, according to this article, we got the content on the new Tespia server first.

So welcome to GMS, Tespia!

#0 – Welcome to the blog!

Welcome to Widojin’s MapleStory News! This is my first MapleStory news blog, and it will focus on the Global version of MapleStory.

I created this blog because new GMS exclusive content pushed me to.  Now, I will try and give information on MapleStory updates and GMS things.  I may just spin things around, but oh well.

My in-game character is Widojin on Windia, in GMS.  I might create more in the future, but for now, this is all I have.;

Thanks for coming to this blog, everyone!
