#23 – No… Big Bang is coming to GMS?!

No.  N-n-nah-nah-nah-nah-no.  No.  Wow.

Big Bang is coming to GMS!

Nexon’s Article: The Rebirth of the MapleWorld

Nexon America is bring the very prestigious “Big Bang” update to GMS.  ‘Nuff said.

#22 – “Dev Blog” – An Insight Into Localization

Nexon’s Article: GM Blogs – Dev Blog – Localization

Hey, guys!  I know my updates on Part III has been slow, but I have recently discovered something!  You should have too, because it is set on the GMS main page.  Anyways, this is the first issue of the Dev Blog, or the “Developers Blog,” hosted by Nexon.  Interesting.

Highlights include that most content comes from KMS, but sometimes, localization/maintenance teams dedicated to each version of the game might occasionally get the green light to create more original content.  I believe that “The Visitors” event was original content created by GMS (and possibly TaMS, Taiwan MapleStory).  The blog also says that they might take content not just from KMS, but all other versions of MapleStory, such as JMS  (Japan MapleStory).

As a side note, there are ten versions of MapleStory:

  1. KMS (South Korea)
  2. JMS (Japan)
  3. CMS (China)
  4. TaMS (Taiwan)
  5. ThMS (Thailand)
  6. Maple SEA (South-East Asia)
  7. GMS (called Global, but is mostly for North America)
  8. EMS (Europe)
  9. BMS (Brazil)
  10. VMS (Vietnam)

If you see “GMST,” keep notice that the “T” means “Test Server,” or, “Tespia.”

We mostly keep tabs on KMS.  We focus on Korea, because, as it says in the article, because it was established first, most updates come from Korea, and we can therefore have a peek into the future of MapleStory in KMS.  Even better, if one is able to get onto the Tespia server in KMS, we can even be at the forefront of new content.  A great blog that I frequently read is “Spadow’s Blog.”  Spadow is a popular KMST player that blogs in English, and can therefore relay new information to us.  His blog is very popular, and has over 300,000 views.  He is one of those that revealed the Big Bang update (which is currently coming up), which will drastically change MapleStory into a new world, with refurnished maps, adjusted monsters, new skill animations, three new jobs, and a new, black interface.  You can read about it on Spadow’s Blog, and I will post links to him since he has excellent videos and information.

And now for…

The Daily Link

Today’s “Daily Link” is on Spadow’s Blog, his post on September 23, 2008.  It is about the “Mu Lung Dojo,” a quite old update that has been here for sometime now, and it does give us a perspective on the past.

#21 – “The Visitors” – Part III!

It’s here!  Part III is released!

Part III is already well-known about.  It is about a PQ that takes place in cubes, in which you will fight three bosses.  There is a huge guide on how to do the Crashed Spaceship PQ, right here on BasilMarket.

Note that the special VIP Visitors Weapons are able to be obtained in this PQ!

Currently, I cannot access Part III content.  I will try though!

#20 – Horntail-Hogging in Scania

BasilMarket Source Thread: New Horntail Dillema in Scania | Thanks to the creator of the thread, BM user “PraisedAura.”

Horntail patrols, it seems, have been around for quite awhile.  I have only recently come upon them, and I am during a sort of investigation on them.  I’ve just updated it today.  It has been on hold for a bit now, but I shall log back in and research on Bellocan, and perhaps Windia, if I can manage it.  It seems that there is another hacker problem in Scania once again, this time to be concerned with hogging the HTPQ.

According to the thread starter, Chaos Horntail and the Regular Horntail are being killed several times a night.  Apparently, it is the same in Khaini, according to a comment below.  Are these really hacker troubles?  Or is this the power of potential-ed items?

And now for…

The Daily Link

Today’s daily link is an interesting piece of artwork based on a concept for a Sky Pirate job in MapleStory.  It is a beautiful piece of art, and it has accumulated over 300 likes on BasilMarket.  You can see it here.

#19 – Big Bang – Shadower > Night Lord in Mobbing

Yup, you heard me, that’s right! The Shadower seems to have an awesome DPM on mobs now, outperforming the Night Lord by far. From this Shadower video and this Night Lord video, the Shadower seems to be the superior job here! What speed! With the added flash jump, the Shadower improves!

Note that the levels are very similar–I got AristosMS’ videos for this one.

I’m not sure about the other jobs, but Shadowers rule!

Will there be a bandwagon?  Read a BasilMarket video’s comments about Shadowers after the Big Bang here.

#18 – “The Visitors” – It sure is quiet today…

It sure is quiet today…

Besides being the day being late, it does feel a bit lonely in Windia today.  This is the Ch. 1 OSSS HQ, and it barely has any people.  Is it just me, or am I missing something here?

Is there a PQ I’m missing out on or something?

Oh well.

In other news, Nexon posted a notice about a major, yet minor incident of dead gifted permanent pets.  You can read it in detail here.  Basically, it says that Nexon’s bug was dealt with and will be fixed in the next server maintenance.

Now, here is a new section I’m starting to pique interest in this blog…

The Daily Link!

Anyways, I’ll be posting daily links to related websites that are probably not too relevant here.

The first DL (Daily Link) is this.  It’s a BasilMarket screenie of the most recent version (to this article’s creation) of MapleSEA.  This is version v.95, and, surprisingly, MapleSEA (South-East Asia, for those that don’t know) has only gotten Crimsonwood Keep, and expansion to Masteria (accessed by the Halloween-event map that was here to stay, the Haunted Mansion).

#17 – “The Visitors” – Almost! Part III!

Well, it’s been about six or seven days since Part II started. When is Part III? I’ve been hearing some things about PQ’s and stuff.
Well, we’ll just have to see.

Anyways, let’s cover some major points about Part III:

  • There will be a PQ.
  • There will be 9 different layouts to it.
  • You will fight through a mothership.
  • There will be two mid-bosses and one final boss in the PQ.

More information about this can be found here, at Nexon’s website.  I’ve also found a few handy things here and (spoiler alert!) here.  The first link is to a GMST guide to the Crashed Spaceship PQ, and the second is a spoiler thread I happened to find on BasilMarket today.  Wow, Nexon is really clever with this storyline…

For some nice screenshots and a broken English explanation of the Third stage, look here.

It seems that all of these parts are taking a week to be released.  I remember the article which tells us how many hours (which Mr.Basil posted not too long ago on the front page) it took for each Part to be released, and it happened to be equivalent to a week.
